Coinbase portfolio tracker: balances, average cost and orders

CentraFIN reads your Coinbase account with a Coinbase Developer Platform key limited to the View permission. You see your balances, your average cost, your open orders and your transfers, together with your other platforms.

What CentraFIN reads

• Balances: every asset in each of your Coinbase portfolios, valued in euros.
• Average cost: your past fills, for an average cost per asset.
• Open orders: their price, quantity and value.
• Transfers: sends, receives, deposits and withdrawals.

Create the key on Coinbase

1. Go to the Coinbase Developer Platform, under API keys, then Secret API key.
2. Give it a name and choose only the View permission.
3. If the option is offered, restrict the key to 130.110.240.91, our relay's address.
4. Download the cdp_api_key.json file offered when the key is created.

Add it to CentraFIN

1. Open Connectors, then Add a connector, then Coinbase.
2. Import the cdp_api_key.json file, or paste the key's name and its private key (Ed25519 or ECDSA).
3. CentraFIN checks the key's permissions with Coinbase before keeping it.

Your security

• A key that can trade or transfer is rejected: only the View permission gets through.
• The private key is encrypted as soon as it arrives and is never shown again.
• Calls go out from our relay, from a single address.

With your other accounts

Coinbase joins Kraken, OKX, Hyperliquid, Interactive Brokers and your Bitcoin wallets in a single total value. A send from Coinbase to another of your accounts is recognised as an internal transfer.

Which Coinbase key should I use?

A secret key from the Coinbase Developer Platform, with only the View permission. The JSON file downloaded when you create it is all you need.

Why was my key rejected?

It most likely had a trading or transfer permission. Create one with View only.
